You might believe, if you were in attendance at Spryfield's quarter final game on Saturday, that with an untimely loss of three key players, odds of defeating the Hampton, NB in the final, went from even money to 3-1. The great thing is you can not calculate 'heart'.
I guess, truth be told, the incident occurring in the quarter final game with the PEI team on Saturday, only served to strengthen Spryfield's resolve. Many of us who watched the quarter final were angry for a multitude of reasons and left Liverpool with a gut wrenching belief that Spryfield may have been denied their shot at the championship. What do we know!
On Sunday the Silver and Black Attack showed us all what team spirit is all about. After 60 minutes of play Spryfield won 3-1, taking home the silverware and the Maritime Hockey North Junior Championship title. That does not happen without great coaching. Congratulation to Paul Strople, Steve Adams, Deny White and the entire coaching staff. You made us proud!
Entering the 4th game of the Maritime North Junior Championships with a 2W-1T-0L record, tied with Kivalliq Canucks, the Attack found themslves in a 'must win' game for a 1st place finish in the round robin play. Spryfield facing the host team, South Shore Wild, pulled away in the 3rd with a 6 - 1 victory and a 1st place finish in round robin play.
